Nothing says classic Hip-Hop like the documentary film, Style Wars. On the 30th anniversary of the film's 1984 release, "The indispensable document of Hip-Hop culture" is finally available in Hi-Definition Blu-ray. The word "exciting" would be an understatement.
After a successful fundraiser to restore the film's original and very damaged negative to Hi-Def, Style Wars has been reborn as a sexy new digitally remastered 2K transfer. Just watching the Style Wars Blu-ray trailer will have any Hip-Hop junkie fiending. Big props go to Chris Woods for an incredible job of meticulously restoring the film (frame by frame) from the original 16mm print to digital glory. Besides the beautifully restored Hi Definition film, the Blu-ray will include a 40 minute highly anticipated OUTTAKES film which is the result of over 30 hours of never-before-seen Style Wars footage that originally hit the cutting room floor.
I was honored to have been commissioned by Henry Chalfant to lend my talents to the new Style Wars Blu-ray by designing its box art. In addition, ATW is proud to offer two exclusive Style Wars tees as part of a special collaboration for the film's Blu-ray release. Watching Style Wars as a young 14 year-old graffiti toy in 1984 and contributing to its digital rebirth in 2014 is humbling, to say the least. You can pick up the new Style Wars Blu-ray here and then head over to our "Collaborations" tab on the website for our hot new Style Wars tees.
